MASTER BUTCHERS
ANNUAL CONFERENCE OF ASSOCIATION DIFFICULT PERIOD EXPERIENCED I United Press ttfdocfaMon 1 WANGANUI, This Day. The annual conference of the New Zealand Master Butchers’ Association opened to-day. There were twenty-two delegates, with the president, Mr J. F. Carter, in the chair. The delegates were welcomed by the Mayor, Mr W. J. Rogers. The president’s report referred to the hard work of the association during the year and the difficult period experienced by the trade because of unfair competition in some districts more than others. Matters of interest dealt with included competition by freezing companies, who retailed meat to the public at prices much below those which the butchers had to charge, and the serious problem which butchers had to face, particularly in the Waikato, by the inroads made in stock by facial eczema.
