THE WEATHER
CLOUDY WITH OCCASIONAL RAIN The weather is predicted to be cloudy, sultry and hazy with occasional rain in most places. Steady rain, which was much appreciated in town and country alike after the series of dry southerly winds, commenced to fall last night and continued intermittently to-day. Up to 9.30 o’clock this morning 62 points had been recorded at the Cawthron Institute, and 75 points at Redwood's Valley. Saturday was beautifully sunny and hot, the temperature rising to 73.2 degrees, while the sun shone for 12 hours 40 minutes. Cloudier conditions prevailed yesterday but 6 hours 25 minutes’ sunshine was recorded. The barometrical reading today was 30.24, slightly lower than yesterday but higher than on Saturday.
