REGATTA ON THE YARRA
HUGE CROWD ATTENDS MELBOURNE, 27tli November, j A crowd of 40.000 attended the Ilen-ley-on-Yarra regatta on Saturday. The main rowing events, the grand chal- 1 lenge cup for senior eights, was won j by the Melbourne Mercantile crew, who beat the New South Wales Haberlield crew by a third of a length in a thrilling race. .The time was 4.44. The challenge cup for senior fours was won by the New South Wales; police, who beat a Richmond crew by , threequnrters of a length. The silver sculls was again won by j the New South Wales police constable, j H. J. Turner, by three lengths. j Mrs Brown: Are they really fours?
