TROTTER GREYHOUND
VISIT NOW UNLIKELY I United Press AsnociatHonl CHRISTCHURCH, Thjs Day. Greyhound, the world champion American trotter, is now unlikely to make the trip to New Zealand for a series of match races, as officials of the principal trotting clubs in Christchurch. Wellington and Auckland do not view the project with the same enthusiasm as its sponsors, a local citizens’ committee. There is rfill a possibility that a satisfactory arrangement may be made, but if an overseas visitor does come it is more likely to be the champion pacer Billy Direct. The committee of the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club met to consider the matter last night and while no official statement has been issued, it was learned that the majority of members see many difficulties in the way of arranging the visit without incurring a financial loss.
