OBITUARY
MR HENRY J. CARMAN (United Press Association! ELTHAM, This Day. The death occurred of Mr Henry George Carman, a prominent businessman in public affairs in Eltham for thirty-six years. He was elected the first chairman of the Taranaki Electric Power Board in 1922 and held office until his retirement this year but retained membership of the board as representative of Eltham. He served many years on the Borough Council, the Chamber of Commerce and other local institutions. He was a foundation member nf the bowling club and a life member. He was born at .Onehunga 65 years ago, but later went to live at Wellington with his parents at a very early age. His wife predeceased him five years ago, and he is survived by a son, two daughters, three brothers and two sisters.
