MOTOR-CYCLIST KILLED
PILLION-RIDER INJURED COLLISION AT HASTINGS 1 United Press Association 1 HASTINGS. 24th November. One man was killed and another seriously injured as the result of a collision between a motor-car and a mo-tor-cycle at the intersection of William street and Tomoana road just before 7 o'clock this evening. The victims were: KILLED Stevens, George Lorenzo Cecil, single. aged about 23. INJURED McPhee. lan Duncan Neil, single, aged about 25. He is in hospital with a fractured leg and head injuries. Both Mr Stevens and Mr McPhee are employees of the Tomoana Freezing Wori's. When the accident occurred they were travelling along Tomoana road on the motor-cycle toward Hastings. The cycle was driven by Mr Stevens and Mr McPhee was on the pillion. The car was driven by Brian Schofield. aged 17. who was travelling along William street, and across Tomoana road when the collision occurred. The car was struck on the side by the motor-cycle and Mr Stevens wat pitched forward against the side of the ear. receiving head injuries from which he died almost immediately. The front wheel and handlebars of the cycle w--e badly buckled. The car was not extensively damaged.
