UMPIRES FOR TO-MORROW J lie following umpires have been appointed for Saturday’s cricket matches: * SENIOR GRADE College v. Athletic, at College, Meter, .Jackson and Exton. Waimea v. EXECUTIVE MEETING At a meeting of the City Cricket Association executive the following dele-t-utes were present: Messrs F. Mitchell (president), E. R. Neale, H. M. McGirr, R 11. Methven, F. Hobern, W. Terrill, M. Connolly, H. Burn, N. Batchelor, N. Blincoe, \ . Blincoe, J. 'Thompson, R. ( oleman, A. Jones and A. J. Gray (secretary). Messrs A. W. Alloo and R. Newman sent apologies for absence. ’The chairman in commenting ou the recent cricketers’ reunion, said that lie tell the function bad been a great success and the thanks of the Association were due to the social committee. He hoped that similar functions might be held in the future, and that clubs would gi\e them full support. PROTEST UPHELD A protest was received from the Y.M.C.A. club, in connection with their senior match against Wakatu, concluded at the Park last Saturday. It was claime:i that Wakatu had batted a substitute player. After a long discussion it wa. agreed that, though there had been previous instances of this practice occulling, it was ciearly a contravention of the laws of the game, and the match was awarded to Y.M.C.A. as a 4 point win. A protest from Athletic Club, ou the grounds that Old Boys junior team had played an unregistered player, waa defended. it was resolved that house teams playing on Association wickets be charged the usual wicket levy. It was ruled (hat senior championship matches be regarded as two-day matches for the purpose of the follow-on rule; and that the same provision apply where a whole-day match is played in lieu of two afternoons. It was also pointed out that (here was no permission in the rules for a w hole day match to be continued after the usual time for drawing stumps, namely 6.30 p.m It was decided the primary schoolboys playing in junior teams should be exempt from the wicket levy. The College second XI was granted permission to play Marlborough College at Blenheim on Saturday.
