APPLEBY BRANCH At the November meeting of the Appleby branch of the W.D.F.U. there was ail excellent attendance. The meeting commenced with the reading of the Cieed, followed by the minutes. Two trustees were proposed—Mrs C. Cottrell and Miss Cook. This was seconded by Mrs de Carteret and carried. Mrs C. Robinson was elected au< the motion being moved by Mrs Neimann, and seconded by Mrs Cook.
It was decided to hold the Arts and Crafts meetings on the fourth Thursday oi the month during the summer. Members were also asked to purchase a Di vision almanac from the secretary. The competition winners were as follows:—Vegetable section: Lettuce, Miss Z. Robinson, Mrs Neimann, Mrs Tear. Cabbage: Mrs S. Satherley, Mrs Tear, Miss Z. Robinson. Lemons: Miss. N Challies, Mrs Tear, Miss Z. Robinson. Gardening section: Roses. Mrs Look, Mrs Clung. Domestic: Plain scones, Miss Btanbury, Mrs Cook, Mrs Tear. A demonstration on needlecraft was given by Mrs Baigent. There were some \ery interesting articles on exhibition. The hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames Stans bury, Hollis, Tear, Miss N. Challies. The meeting closed with the singing of the National Anthem. The Gardening Circle visited Mrs Cook’s garden during the month. After an interesting ramble around the grounds, afternoon tea was served under the trees near the stream. Mrs Cottrell, the president, and Mrs Ching, Gardening Circle secretary, spoke a few words to the gatli ering at the conclusion of the afternoon. Mrs P. Challies’s garden is to be visit ec< next month.
