NELSON WEST
TOWNSWOMEN’S., GUILD The November meeting of the Nelson West Townswomen’s Guild opened with the singing of the Guild’s Ode and reading of the Aspiration. Mi's Gustavel presided and extended a welcome to all present. At the conclusion of the business part of the meeting, Mrs F. W. O. Smith gave a very interesting talk on her travels in the Holy Land, illustrated with interesting articles such as carved Mother-of-Pearl loving shells; a Hebron mouthblown glass tear bottle and anointing bottle ; a carved camel made of Olive wood ; a small pot made of clay from the Potter’s Field; and a bowl made from stone of the Dead Sea; also mother-of-pearl and glass beads. A hearty vote of thanks was tended the speaker, after which afternoon tea was dispensed by the following hostesses Mesdames Kiddie, Richards, Harley and Miss Cole, under the supervision of Mrs O’Donnell. A humorous one-act comedy caused much amusement. Those taking part were Mesdames Heather, Bray, Hastie, Sherwood, Conibear and Stewart. The Guild is grateful to Mrs Shale for donating a large box of chocolates for a competition, and to Mrs Richards, who donated tea-towels (a much needed wanf) to the Guild. The meeting closed with the National Anthem. CIRCLE REPORTS Play-reading ; During the month members were busy practising their one-act comedy for the November meeting; and are now rehearsing their play for the Christinas party.
