FAMOUS PAINTER
MR A. J. MUNNINGS’ PICTURES (By Air Mail —From Our Own Correspondent) LONDON, 3rd March. Sometime in April we shall have another West End show of Mr A. J. Mminings* pictures. This will, so the famous R.A. painter of shimmering horseflesh avers, be positively his last one-man show. This does not imply that Mr Mu linings will cease bis artistic activities, but merely that he may to some extent restrict his output, and certainly that he will avoid the big strain of undertaking another exhibition all off his own bat. Mr Munnings looks the part. That is to say he is just what one might expect the man who paints his pictures to look like. With the good figure and easy carriage of the fox-hunting horseman, he ha s ju s t a touch of the Chelsea Bohemian plus a big dash of the country squire. He is in better form than ever just now, having discovered a regime, notably of diet., which defeats his old foe, the gout. He ii reputed to have ridden to hounds with a bad attack of that almost obsolete complaint. in both feet. That is certainly an all-in record for R A.’s if not for foxhunters.
