The following prisoners were sentenced in the Supreme Court by Mr Justice Reed: Robert Burns, aged 19 years, brass polisher, and Leslie James Wedderspoon, aged 21 years, bootmaker, breaking and entering and theft at Tokaanu, two years’ Borstal detention: Colin George Coney beer, aged 19 years, assistant storeman, breaking and entering and theft at Palmerston North, three years’ Borstal detention: Harold Colin Drager, aged 21 years, labourer, assault with intent to do grievousbodily harm at Woodville. three years’ reformative treatment; Matthew Bailey, aged 25 years, a Maori, shepherd and drover, unlawful carnal knowledge, two years’ probation; Ronald Ernest Earnshaw, aged 2(1 years, labourer and cook, conversion of a motor-van at Wanganui and breach of probation, two years’ imprisonment with hard labour; Harold Thompson, aged 18 years labourer, assault at Petonc, causing actual bodily ha rm. two years’ probation. to pay costs, and totally abstain from liquor during that period; Reginald Mulholland, aged 21 years, cook, breaking and entering and theft (three charges), breaking and entering with intent to stead, theft, and starting to make moulds for counterfeiting, three years’ reformative treatment; John O'Grady, aged 52 years, labourer, arson at the Winter Show buildings, Wellington, fifteen months’ imprisonment with hard labour; Bernard Edward Way, aged 19 years, motor driver, breaking and entering and theft, two years’ probation; Wi Mekerec Malenga, aged 38 years, labourer, unlawful carnal knowledge at Horirua, two years’ imprisonment with hard labour; Nelson Ball, aged 29 years, meat inspector, attempted carnal knowledge at Fcilcling. to conic up for sentence if called upon within two years; Robert James Turnbull, aged 27 years, labourer, supplying drugs at Wairoa intending them to be used for abortion, to come up for sentence if called upon within two years; Taurangi Taumanu, aged 19 years, farm hand and labourer, unlawful carnal knowledge at Tikitiki, two charges, two years’ Borstal detention.
