Dr. T. Cafl'ell, of Matamata, was appointed to the position of assistantMedical Superintendent at Nelson Hospital, at yesterday’s meeting of the Hospital Board. Sister V. Best, of the staff of the New Plymouth Hospital, arrived in Nelson by the Arahura this morning, and is staying at Shelbourne street with her mother, Mrs P. R. Wilkinson, wife of the Commissioner of Crown Lands. A motion of sympathy to the relatives of the late Mr T. A. H Field was passed on the motion of the chairman fMajor It.
