NOT DOING IT FOR MONEY IN WINNING PLANE OF AUSTRALIA RACE (By Air Mail—From a Special Correspondent) LONDON, 16th October. Another attempt (o beat Amy Johnson's Capo record is being planned. Betty Kilby.Green, pretty, flying-crazy thirty-one-year-old blonde, wants to lop a day and a half off that record of 3 days 6 hours 26 minutes. “I’d he just thrilled if wo made £IOO out of it’’ she said this week. “It’s just the adventure of it I want. Why I'll gi anywhere and do anything in the wide world to make this chance I’ve got come time. The experience alone is worth anything. “You see, I’m crazy on flying for the sake of it. I work in my own business twelve or fourteen hours a day just so f can have £5 to spend at the week-end o i flying. I’ve done blind flying too. taking off hv instruments under a canvas hood. “The ’plane I want to go in is the Comet that won the Australia race in 19-34. It is simply certain to beat the record, we ought to make the Cape in forty-six hours. “Every one says I’m crazy. They always have said that about me. They said it when I set to fly to Paris in July the day after I’d got inv ‘A’ licence. I had only five hours solo air experience. But somebody bet mo £IOO I couldn’t do it 1 wanted that money, so that was that. “I pawned my furs to raise the insuranee and hire-money on the ’plane. Anri i got there with my last half-gallon ol petrol.”
