LARGER GRANT SOUGHT DEPUTATION TO WAIT ON MINISTER lliv Telegraph Press Association! AUCKLAND. 15th November. "Unless a further Government grant is made there is danger ot the building deteriorating and the efficiency of the college being seriously impaired.” -aid Mr H J. D. Mahon, president of the Auckland University College, following a meeting of the college council. The meeting authorised Mr Mahon and the vice-president. Mr A H. Johnstone, to wait on the Ministei of Education with a request for a grant of £4658 i'ol immediate requirements and for an additional annual sum of £905 "These arc necessary works and cannot be provided out of the resources o' tl'.e council ” Mr Mahon continued "Reports w_* have received show how straitened the finances ot the college are. It is impossible to provide even for certain well-deserved increases in salaries.”
