The compulsory acquisition under the Public Works Ad of land for the extension of the New Plymouth airport was the subject of proceedings in the Supreme Court to-day. when the previous owner, Mrs R. L. Barclay. Waitara. claimed from the New Plymouth Borough Council £12.018 as compensation for all loss arising out of the land being taken and its severance from a farm. The claim comprised £8314 as the value, at £75 an acre, of 109 acres taken, with buildings and improvements. and £3703. as the value of the remaining 183 acres injuriously affected by the severance. The evidence will be continued tomorrow.
