NELSON A. AND P. ASSOCIATION MEETING OF COMMITTEE FINAL ARRANGEMENTS MADE The monthly meeting of the committee of the Nelson A. and P. R. McKellar. Nelson. Before proceeding with the business it was resolved that letters of sympathy be forwarded to the relatives of Mr D. R. Edwards, Mrs Rcnwick, Mrs Ingram, Mr J. C. Coote, and Mr Godfrey Hammond all of whom have in the past rendered valuable service to the Association. The secretary of the Nelson Automobile Association wrote stating that the Minister of Transport viewed with alarm the danger from lire when a large number of cars was parked close together, and suggesting that fire extinguishers be secured for use in case of fire. Mi- A. K. Griffith wrote regarding the use of a loud-speaker at the Show. It was resolved that as music for the Show had already been engaged the letter he filed for future reference. Mr Harvey Holyoake, Motueka, wrote stating that he wished to exhibit at the Show his collection of mineral specimens if space were available. It was resolved that Mr Holyoake be offered space on the usual terms. GENERAL BUSINESS It was resolved that the agricultural class from the Boys’ College bo admitted to the Show and the offer of boys to act as assistant stewards be accepted with thanks. Considerable discussion ensued on the subject of the handling of traffic and the parking of cars on Show Day and it was resolved that on the second day traffic be admitted through both gates. Mr A. R. Kingsford was appointed official photographer for the Show. It was resolved that the matter of obtaining food for the pigs at the Show be left in the hands of the chief steward. It was decided that as the entries for the dog trials are not large, post-entries for this event, which commences at 9 a.m. on Saturday, will be accepted up till that time. CHOPPING EVENTS On Mr Mead’s motion it was resolved that the first chopping event take place at 1.30 on the second day. The entries in this class are large, and great interest is being taken in these events which have not appeared on the schedule for many years. Some of the Dominion’s leading axemen will be taking part. The president explained that he had taken steps to secure quotations for extinguishers, and it was resolved that two extinguishers be obtained—one to be kept in the secretary’s office, and one in the parking area. FAT LAMB COMPETITION It was resolved that the prize money and luncheon arrangements for the field day at the Freezing Works on Bth December be the same as last year. WORKERS’ PASSES The president explained that workers’ passes to be issued to employees of firms with stands on the ground were available, and that unless these are produced at the gate a charge for entry will he made.
