THE MELBOURNE “ARGUS” lUuiied Press Assncuitinn-By Elecrno leleeraph-Cop.vrißhtl (Received 13th September, 9.35 a.m.) MELBOURNE, 12th September. • After 91 years of publication in its traditional form, the Melbourne “Argus” appeared to-day in a new form. The news is on the front page with small advertisements grouped in the centre section. The first issue of the new "Argus” contained 30 pages. Many messages of goodwill were' received from Britain and America, acclaiming the change as significant of progress, development, and greater public service. The issue is the result of months of careful planning. Commenting editorially on the change, the “Argus” promises to advocate good wages industrial development, social legislation and better distribution of the nation’s wealth.
