ORIGINAL “GOLD DIGGER”
Oul of the entire cast of "Or,ld Diggers of Broadway ' which Warner Bros, released six years ago as the first ii. a series of "Gold Diggers" musical productions, a dancing chorine named Dorothy O'Connell is the only survivor uho appears in Warner Bros. First National’s 1927 cidtion. This discovery was made when Dance Director Busby Berkeley began tryout rehearsals for his dancing girls in the new picture. "How many of you worked with me in ’Gold Diggers ot 19:55*?” he asked as the girls lined up before him. Twenty-live ;;w!s ra sed their hands and stepped forward Berkeley looked over Die grojp and (lien asked "How many of you worked in ‘Gold Diggers of 1922'?” Eleven R irls raised their hands this time. Out 0 f curiosity Berkeley then asked, "Is (here any one here who worked in the original musical back in 1920.’ ihis time Miss O’Connell was the only one (c raise her hand. She had raised it each time Berkeley had asked the question.
