OPINION OF UNION SECRETARY
ON COURT’S STANDARD WAGES DECISION [By Telegraph —Press Association! GREYMOUTH, This Day. Discussing the Arbitration Court’s pronouncement on standard wages, Mr F. L. Turley, secretary of the New Zealand Timber Workers’ Union, said he disagreed with the Court’s decision. He considered the unskilled labourer should receive at least 2s 4Jd, equal to 19s per day, with the skilled worker getting 25s daily. Mr Turley added that if those union secretaries almost congratulating the Court on the pronouncement had submitted these statements to the rank and file, he thought there would not have been one not condemned by the members.
