DISABLED EX-SERVICEMEN
FUNDS FOR ASSISTANCE GRANT ASKED FOR BY R.S.A. CONFERENCE [By Telegraph—Press Association] WELLINGTON, This Day. The-R S.A. Conference agreed that in all caSes where returned soldiers were receiving veteran’s allowance and sustenance, they should be required to report to the Labour Bureau monthly instead of weekly as at present. The principle of special consideration to civil servant annuitants whose retirement took place before the completion of 40 years’ service owing to war service was supported, the cases to be dealt with on their merits. The Government is to be again urged to make more provision for employment of ex-servicemen in the Government services.
The Canteen Funds Trust Board is tu be asked to grant not less than £12,000 during the present year for the assistance of a large number of partially disabled men who are still dependent on benevolent funds to supplement their income.
