COLD AND SQUALLY BUT IMPROVING The forecast to-day was for cold and squally weather and snow on the ranges, but later improving. Nelson experienced a dull, cold day yesterday, wilhout sunshine, the temperature not rising above 54.7 degrees. But the night was milder, the minimum temperature being 40.1 degrees. Only 6 points of rain fell in Nelson and 4 points at the Research Orchard, Appleby.
To-day was overcast, the barometer being still low, but the air was not so keen.
The weather was still overcast throughout the Dominion to-day, most districts having rain yesterday. Winds were chiefly from the south. Heavy rain fell in Auckland yesterday morning, and Wellington experienced a dull, misty day. The day was overcast and cold in Christchurch, and ccld after a frost in Dunedin.
