BROADBENT’S FLIGHT
ATTEMPT ON DARWIN-ENGLAND RECORD [United Press Association-By Electric Telegraph—Copy rightl NICOLIA, 2nd May. H. F. Broadbent, on his attempt on the record for a flight from Darwin to England, arrived and departed for Rome at 5.30 p.m., local time. He hopes to reach Lympne on Monday evening. When he left Nicolia he had 2000 miles to fly in two days nineteen hours in hand compared with the record. RECORD BROKEN (Received 4th May, 9.40 a.m.) LONDON, 3rd May. Broadbent arrived at Lympe at 6.41 p.m., beating Brook’s record for the solo flight from Australia.
UNEVENTFUL FLIGHT (Received 4th May, 1.5 p.m.) LONDON, 3rd May. Broadbent said the flight was uneventful, and the machine ran perfectly. His most anxious time was near Rangoon, when he encountered storms which precede the monsoon. ROME, 3rd May. Broadbent arrived at 8.20 a.m. and departed at 8.50 a.m. PROGRESS OF BROOK KISUMU, 3rd May. H. L. Brook, who is making an attempt on the Cape-England record, departed for Cairo at 5 a.m. local time.
