Whey carrying a full load of bananas for the Maui Pomare, a Gold Star Transport Company lorry overturned passing through the village of Afega. Two Samoans, the owners of the bananas, who were travelling with the lorry, were fatally injured. The driver, Leslie Jessop, was not seriously injured The accident was caused by a large pig suddenly crossing the load. The driver swerved to avoid hitting it
