Gwen soon learned what Richard and Ted considered funny about it. They had been deliberately praising her in order to get her toast-making for them. The Worst of it was that they had eaten all the toast as she had made it, and there was none left for her. She was angry, so Richard said: “Never mind, Gwen, I’ll make you a piece now.” But Gwen had seen so much toast that afternoon that she felt she hated the sight of it. However, it ended well, and they ail had a good laugh.
