CONVICTED OF TREASON
ROMAN CATHOLIC PRIESTS IN GERMANY RESULT FOREGONE CONCLUSION [United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copy righ t] (Received 29th April, 2 p.m.) BERLIN, 28th April. Four Roman Catholic priests were convicted of treason. Father Rossaint, of Dusseldorf, was sentenced to 11 years imprisonment and the others to lesser terms. The remaining three were acquitted. It was a farcical trial with the decision a foregone conclusion, the President being hostile throughout. The President, summing up, said: ‘The welfare of the people is the supreme law. Anyone who dares to touch the outward form of the community of the German people is guilty of the worst crime.”
