ANZAC DAY

MEMORIAL SERVICE TO-MORROW CEREMONY AT CHURCH STEPS PARADE OF EX-SERVICEMEN The Ansae Day Memorial Service which has been arranged by the Nelson Returned Soldiers' Association will be held at the Church Steps to-morrow morning. Similar services will be held at various centres throughout the province, and special references will be made to (he day in the churches.

The city service will commence at

9.45 o’clock in the mprnmg. Ex-ser-vicemen will parade in mufti at the Drill Hall at 9.15 a.m. and will march to Trafalgar street, with the Territorials of the Ist Battalion of the Nelson, Marlborough and West Coast Regiment, led by the Regimental Band. A detachment of the Nelson College" Cadets will also parade in uniform. The Regimental Colours of the N.M. and W.C. Regiment will be taken from the Cathedral earlier in the morning and will ue carried by the Territorials on their march.

Pastor J. K. Robinson, president of the Nelson Ministers’ Association will preside at the service, at which the Rev. A. Fear (N.Z.E.F.) will give the address. The Regimental Band will play “The Vanished Army” (Alford). The prayers will be led by the Rev. W. Rowe and the Lesson will be read by Major Hawkins. At the conclusion of the service the Regimental Colours will be returned to the Cathedral with the usual ceremony. The public is requested to place wreaths on the War Memorial prior to the commencement of the service. If the weather is inclement the ceremony will be held at the Drill Hall. I ! ARRANGEMENTS AT RICHMOND SERVICE AT 2 O’CLOCK I A commemoration service will be I held at Richmond at the Memorial Building (Council Chambers) in the 1 afternoon, commencing at 2 p.m. At this gathering the Rev A. Fear, of the Nelson Baptist Church, will give an adress. It is not intended this year to • have a parade, but returned men, also Guides. Scouts and Culls are invited to attend. The public are requested to be punctual as the service will be shorter than usual to allow those taking part to fulffi other appointments later in the afternoon. OTHER SERVICES Country services have been arranged 2.30 p.m.; Motupiko, 10.30 a.m.; Tapawera. 2 p.m.; Stanley Brook. 4 p.m. NOT A GENERAL HOLIDAY ON MONDAY The only classes of business in Nelson which will recognise a holiday on Monday are those in which the employees’ awards make special, provision for the holiday. All shops and offices will be open‘with the exception of butchers and grocers.
