NANKING, 17th December.
Mr W. H. Donald made a surprise flight'to Sianfu at the request of Madame Chiang Kai-shek in order to make a further effort to obtain her husband’s release. . .
Mr W. H. Donald, the Australian * journalist who,acts as adviser to General Chiang Kai-shek, telephoning five hundred miles from the interior of China, told Madame Chiang Kai-shek that her husband did not wish her to fly to join him. He was in good spirits. despite his detention in the inner city v at Sianfu, whence have emanated, several rumours of his assassination. Mr Donald denied that Kang Huchen, f Pacification Commissioner at Shansi; ; ' was leading a counter-revolt against the army rebels.
