ABANDONMENT OF HEALTH CAMP
DECISION OF NELSON ASSOCIATION PARENTS TO BE CIRCULARISED It is with regret that the Nelson Children’s Health Camp Association has to announce the abandonment of the Tahunanui Health Camp which was to have .been held in January. The severe infantile paralysis epidemic in Otago has compelled the Health Department to take active steps to minimise as much as possible the spread of this disease. Hence all Health Camps are being abandoned with the exception of a few minor camps in connection with orphanages and institutions of a like nature. The usual type of Health Camp, where children are assembled from many homes over wide areas, are not to be permitted. The secretary of the Nelson Association (Mr S. W. Street) is taking immediate steps to circularise all parents whose children were to attend camp, informing them of the Health Department’s instructions.
