TOURIST TRAFFIC
AUSTRALIAN CRUISE SHIPS FULL (United Presß Association —By Electric Telegraph-Copyright) SYDNEY, 17th December. Further reports of tourist bookings for New Zealand disclose that all large Orient and P. and O. liners cruising to New Zealand between now and next March are booked right out and there are literally hundreds on waiting lists. The Orford sailed to-day for the Bay of Islands via Brisbane a full ship.
A Sydney cable published yesterday stated that Australians this year are flocking to New Zealand for the Christmas and New Year holidays. On four lines sailing between Friday and Christmas Day more than 1500 passengers are booked. The Awatea and Maunganui, sailing to-day, will take 760 of these. Bookings are the heaviest for a number of years and are a pleasant contrast to last December, when Tasman services were disorganised by a shipping strike.
