ARBITRATION COURT
VARIOUS AWARDS MADE (By Telegraph—Press Association) WELLINGTON, This Day. In the private hotels’ dispute in the Arbitration Court a forty-four horn week was agreed upon and an eighthour day. _ , The award by the Arbitration Court in motor mechanics’ and assistants national award, except Marlborough, give a forty-hour week to all workers other than garage attendants and their assistants, who would work a forty-four hour week on six days. The rates of pay are: A grade mechanics, 2s 8d an hour; motor mechanics, 2s Gd; assemblers, 2s 4-id; vulcanisers, 2s 4id; inspectors, 2s 8d; improvers, 2s 4i-d. The minimum wage of adult garage” attendants is £4 12s a week or 2s 2d an hour; and for casuals 2s 4cl an hour. A forty-hour week is provided for female employees in the clothing trade award covering the Northern Wellington, Canterbury and Otago and Southland districts, and except in the case of retail workrooms these hours are to be spread over the first five days of the week. The minimum wage of journey women is £2 ss, and for journey women employed as cutters £2 10s Cd.
