(By Air Mail —From A Special Correspondent)
LONDON, 7th November. Fight fans in Britaiif are paying more than £500,000 a year to watch allin wrestling. This Wag the estimate given this week by a well-known promoter. 1 All-in wrestling in Britain to-day is at the peak of an undreamed of boom. The wrestlers themselves are making big money. There are scores who earn more than £I,OOO a year. T.here are not more than tighe boxers in Britain who can make more than £I,OOO a year. The average prelimin-ary-bout boxer is lucky if he can pick up £IOO in a year of fighting. But an all-in wrestler easily averages £4OO annually for regular appearances in preliminary bouts. Boxing is suffering from the popularity of the newer fight game. Fans are deserting the boxing halls for the more thrilling spectacle of “grunt and groan.” Now all-in wrestling is to challenge boxing bn its own accord. A big all-title show is to be promoted at Olympia in- December and a complete seil-out of tickets is expected. •
