A STATEMENT RESENTED AND APOLOGY DEMANDED (To The Editor) Sir, —“Aj Morris,” Richmond, has cast an unwarranted slur on the characters of the employees of the People’s Palace by stating that “the People’s Palaces are run free of labour expenses by employing girls who are sent into these homes either by Magistrate’s Court or are working out their maternity expenses and eventually discharged without pay.” We, the undersigned, demand a full apology immediately through your columns. We are employed under Union conditions, wages and hours and have no connection whatever with the social work of the Salvation Army.—We are etc. (Sgd.)
