Sullivan) stated, in reply to a query, that he had received a report from the Railway Department on the South Island Main Trunk project. “The report is not so bad,” commented the Minister, “and I think it is likely that there will be a resumption of work on the line in the near future.” Mr Sullivan added that it was unnecessary for him to say that the question required the final consideration of the Prime Minister in particular and Cabinet in general.
