ENVIRONMENT CERTIFICATES CHAMPIONSHIP SHIELD TO BE AWARDED •ui* 1 • To correct anomalies in the present system of awarding environment certificates to schools the Nelson Education Board has adopted a scheme under which a championship shield and three classes of certificates will be awarded. The certificates have proved a great stimulus in the past and splendid work has been done in many schools in improving the surroundings. A competitive shield will be awarded annually to the school whose total environment inside and outside is deemed to be of the highest comparative standard in the Nelson Education Board district. First class certificates will be awarded to the schools whose total environments have attained a standard warranting these awards, that is, the. highest standard. Certificates known as second class certificates will be awarded to schools whose total environments have attained to a standard warranting such awards, that is, a very good standard. ' Certificates known as third class certificates will be awarded to schools whose total environments have attained to a standard warranting certificate recognition. The environment certificates to be issued are to be remodelled and the three; certificates are to be issued in distinctive'background colourings and suitable print colourings.
