MAPITA P,RANCH At the monthly meeting of the Mapua branch of the Women's Division of the Farmers’ Union there was a good attendance and several new members were welcomed. Mrs Forsyth received the congratulations of the branch on having been rc-clccted provincial prei sident. In response to an overture , front the Nelson Plunket Society, it ' was decided to reply that this W.D.F.U. branch would sponsor their suggested concert. Mrs Archer was added to the executive committee. It was decided to try ' to raise funds to buy a piano, and as ' a first effort an “afternoon” is to be held at the home of Mrs Ross. I The roll-call, “What to do in an ’ emergency,” was well responded to. An invitation from the Redwoods’ Valiev branch for- any who were interested to attend Miss Dee’s demonstration of fancy work, was accepted by twelve members. Mrs More gave a demonstration of smocking which proved interesting, and for which she was heartily thanked. Following this it was decided to have a competition for the next meeting of a smocked article; also one for the best plate of scones. Members were also asked to bring to the next meeting a parcel worth sixpence and also to buy one of same value.
