OBITUARY
MRS ROBERT MARR The late Mrs Robert Marr, whose death occurred at the Gowan recently, -was brought up in Central Otago. Her father, the late Mr John Todd, was the first man in Central Otago to own-a battery for obtaining gold from quartz. , Later, her father with his family 'moved to the Catlin’s district where he .took up farming. As a young woman the late Mrs Marr joined the staff of the Seacliff Mental Hospital under Sir Truby King and later was selected by him for special work in connection with his early experiments. Later she left the hospital to accompany her mother on a trip to England and Scotland. -n.t that time her uncle was managing the estates of the late Lord Ritchie. On returning to New Zealand she was married in 1908. 1 ’• ' 1 ' ; About 20 years ago the family moved to" the Nelson district where her hus\band took up farming at the Gowan and became one of the pioneers of the district. The, late Mrs Marr was beloved by young and old alike—a true friend to all who chanced to. pass, her way. • 1 She: passed away T after an illness of •'eigfit months. She is survived by' her Husband and three daughters, Misses Bessie, Agnes and Lilian Marr to mourn their loss.
