Rain and a cold wind prevailed at the opening of the British Amateur Golf Championship. Ferrier (Australia) had a bye in the first round. Tolley, playing two rounds, eliminated two Americans.
Bentley, the English champion, defeated Stanley Lunt 3 and 1 in the second round.
