CONTINUANCE OF FINE SPELL PREDICTED Fine and cold weather was forecast this morning, with moderate; southeast winds. An anti-cyclone extends across the Tasman Sea onto the South Island. Brilliantly sunny days continue. Yesterday was warmer, the maximum shade temperature being 8 degrees higher than on Sunday. Last night also was less cold in Nelson, the Cawthron Institute recording a minimum temperature on the grass of only 32.9 but frost lay on the ground in many parts of the city. Four degrees of frost were registered at the Government Research Orchard. The barometer has risen slightly, standing at 30.22 this morning.

It was fine hut cloudy in the morning in Christchurch and sunny in the afternoon. The sky was overcast in Dunedin, but conditions generally were mild.
