LONG-DISTANCE BOMBING
ITALIAN SQUADRON’S ACHIEVE* MENT (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) HOME, 21st May. As an instance of Italian long-dis-tance bombing achievement, a squadron took oil from the aerodrome in Lombardy, crossed the Apennines at a height of 15,C00ft, and bombed a target marked out near Rome, and then returned to its base. It averaged 162 miles an hour, and was guided by wireless for the greater part of the flight owing (o bad weather. The exercise is described as the final phase of the training of a normal bombing squadron.
