Dr. Goebbels, Minister of Propaganda, addressing tire Jurists’ Congress, pro tested against foreign criticism of Ger man policy towards the press. “Germany lias not abolished freedom of the press, but press anarchy. What is called freedom of the press is in reality the worst kind of intellectual tyranny, because it is exercised anonymously,” he added. Herr Hitler preferred the “higher law of his nation” to the Versailles Treaty, which was “lawless in its origin.” Nazis would not only rebuild Germany, but would give suffering Europe new life. Dr. Goebbels added: “Our aim is to place Europe on a better legal basis eompatable with the life of all nations.”
