MISHAP TO PLANE
bad flaw in metal (United Press Association) WELLINGTON. 19th My,y. Through the breaking of the tailskid compression spring to-day when taxiinn- to take-off for a short flight with a- "friend from Rongotai, the departure of Mr Chichester’s ’plane to Auckland 011 the first stage of its flight to England via the East and Siberia was delayed until Thursday. Mr Chichester and Mr Herrick also go north then, but may return to Wellington before leaving for Sydney. The ’plane will probably be shipped to Svdney from Auckland by the Wanganella on 19th June. Mr Chichester was flying a number of friends and the tailskid snapped crossing some rough ground. It proved to have a bad flaw in the metal. Efforts are being made to obtain a new one from the Wairarapa Aero Club.
