OVERTIME TO WORKERS
SUNDAYS AND HOLIDAYS EXPLANATION BY MINISTER (By Telograpli—Press Association) WELLINGTON, 20th May. That the provision of the Factories Amendment Bill with regard to the payment of overtime to workers engaged on Sundays or statutory holidays is to apply to all workers irrespective of whether or not their employment would nor. mally entail work on these days, was made clear by the Minister of Labour, the lion. 11. T. Armstrong, in an interview. Mr Armstrong stated that the provision under the Bill is that all workers must be paid extra rates if they are employed on Sundays or holidays. Women and hoys are definitely prohibited from being employed on Sundays or statutory holidays, but in the case of all male adult workers, overtime rates will apply.
