Mrs Newlywed was visiting her mother for a few days. One morning her husband received the following telegram from her: “Come as soon as you can. Am dying.—Kate.” Hours later, the distracted husband reached his mother-in-law’s house. The first person to greet him was his wife, looking, in the best of health. “W-w-w-what did you mean by sending me such a message?” he stuttered. “Oh,” iiis wife answered brightly. “1 only wanted to say that I was dying to see you, but it ran over nine words, and I had to stop.”
