BRITISH EXCHEQUER RETURNS

INTERESTING FIGURES (British Official Wireless) RUGBY, 24th March. Exchequer returns show that total ordinary revenue, excluding self-bal-ancing' items, amounts to £( 28,271.283 with °only 10 days to run before the end of the financial year, compared with £700.711,137 at the corresponding date of 1935 and a Budget estimate for the whole year of £734,470,000. The customs yield to date is £192,028,000, compared with £181,832,000 for the same period of last year and it already exceeds the estimate for the whole year by £3,458,000. Receipts from income tax for- the week were £4,778,000 and to date they are only £2,299,000 behind the Budget estimate for the whole year.
