MORTGAGE READJUSTMENT
MINISTERIAL STATEMENT (United Press Association) WELLINGTON, This Day. A statement as to mortgage difficulties was made yesterday by the Minister of Finance, Hon. W. Nash, lie said he had received a number of inquiries asking for advice on mortgage difficulties, and his invariable reply to mortgagors was to utilise all the existing provisions under the Mortgagors Relief and other Acts, and that when the Government’s legislation for the adjustment of mortgages was introduced later in the year, the benefits provided would he made available to those who had taken advantage of existing procedure to the same extent as it was available to those who had not, Rural mortgages, said Mr Nash, must be adjusted to values associated with guaranteed prices, and urban mortgages to present-day property values and Government would take the necessary steps to achieve this purpose at the earliest convenient moment.
