MOTOR ASSEMBLY DISPUTE
SETTLEMENT FINALISED (By Telegraph—Press Association) WELLINGTON, This Day. The provisional settlement reached yesterday in the Petone Motor Assembly Plants dispute was finalised to-day. It entails an all round increase in wages of eleven shillings weekly, payable irrespective of grade and embracing boys, girls and women workers, a number of whom are engaged at the plants. The dispute was conducted on behalf of the workers by the District Council of the Alliance of Labour in conjunction with the Engineers’ Union, the secretary of which stated to-day that a plebiscite vote of the members of the union was being prepared on the question of affiliating with the District Council.
