ARMED ESCORT SHOT

DARING MELBOURNE lIOLD-UP (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) MELBOURNE, 31st January. Two bandits shot an armed escort in the head in the city early this evening and escaped with a bag containing £JBOO. The escort, James Soriven, aged 64, is in hospital in a critical condition.

Tim hold-up was a most during one and took place in a crowded street. Scriven was entering a taxi in which a clerk from the office of the Coni roller of Stamps was seated, a money hag between his feet.
