Taupo, Rptoriia. Hamilton and Auckland. Head winds were encountered as far ns Taupo, but the cyclists were more fortunate on the return trip, following winds being experienced for a large part of the journey. The return lo Wellington was made via Stratford and Palmerston, and it was on this stretch that the cyclists did their best dav’s mileage, covering 120 miles in a dnv.
The tourists carried a small tent and camped out for the majority of the nights. Little trouble was encountered. one cyclist having minor mishaps to his machine while the other escaped without oven a puncture.
