Pending discussions of conciliatory measures proposed by the Mine Owners’ Federation and endorsed by the Minister of Mines, over 800 men employed in the tluntlv coalfields are still idle. It is stated that the management of the MacDonald Mine is prepared to withdraw the machinery temporarily until a disputes eommitfee consisting of the representatives of I lie employers and three, union represenlalives have considered the question. At a meeting of 2f>o miners at Mindly this morning a resolution was passed favouring the submission of the dispute to a special committee. It is understood that the men will return to work, pending the decision of the committee, but no final decision can he made until meetings are held in other centres this afternoon.
