NEW NAVAL CONSTRUCTION
OVER £8,0911,900 AUTHORISED FIFTH ALPINE DIVISION CREATED (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) (Received 31st January, 1 p.m.) ROME, 30th January. Following on the Cabinet meeting de= crees were issued authorising an ex penditure of £8,677,000 on new naval construction; forcing citizens between the ages of II and 32 years to. carry cards defining their physical condition for military training; also creating a fifth Alpine Division and increasing cash prizes for large families, for which bachelors are more heavily taxed.
